Pitt-Penn State gets a noon kickoff

USA Today Sports

The return of the Pitt-Penn State rivalry will take place at high noon.

The two schools announced on Thursday that the Sept. 10 meeting at Heinz Field will kick off at noon. That start time was largely inevitable since the Pittsburgh Pirates host the Cincinnati Reds that night at 7 p.m.

The Pitt-Penn State game marks the first time the two teams have met since 2000. The Sept. 10 game will be televised on ABC or ESPN.

One week earlier, Pitt will open the 2016 season against Villanova at Heinz Field. That game is set for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff time. Pitt also announced that the Oct. 27 Thursday night game against Virginia Tech will be broadcast on ESPN and kick off at 7 p.m.
